At SEP Ecology, we value skilled communicators who have a deep passion for wildlife and a comprehensive understanding of UK wildlife ecology. Ideal candidates will possess excellent time management and organisational skills, be capable of working independently, and make informed decisions that reflect their level of expertise.

Applicants should have a full driving licence and access to a vehicle for work-related travel, or reliable transportation to ensure they can reach remote sites, often outside regular working hours. A company vehicle may become available after a probationary period. We also provide paid overtime and flexibility, making us an ideal workplace for forward-thinking ecologists who are committed to advancing their careers in a rapidly growing industry.

Requirements:

  • A relevant degree in ecology or a related field, OR at least two years of experience in ecological consultancy.
  • Demonstrated experience in fieldwork, including habitat and bat surveys.
  • A solid track record in office-based consultancy tasks such as reporting and mapping.
  • Level 1 Class Licence for bat surveys, with other survey licences welcomed.
  • Strong botanical identification skills.
  • Experience in Biodiversity Net Gain (BNG) Assessments and using the UKHab classification.
  • Capability to conduct regular fieldwork.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Membership of CIEEM.
  • Level 2 Class Licence for bat surveys.
  • Licences for other protected species surveys.
  • Experience in EPS Mitigation Licensing.
  • Proficiency in GIS mapping.
  • Understanding of relevant protected species planning policies, including the NPPF and local plans, in relation to development.
